Healthy Homemade Raw Chocolate Recipe

Oh my goodness! I have been trying to incorporate more healthy fat into my diet for a good year now ever since my nursing son kept casually stealing all of mine in between naps. That’s when I really got into cacoa butter. I found it absolutely delicious in my shakes as it gave them such a silky mouthfeel and checked off my healthy fats for the day in a big and easy way.

Well fast forward to today and my kids and I have been swooning over these raw chocolate peanut butter “cups” made from my beloved cocoa butter. They are so good and totally guilt free and so so customizable.

So here’s the scoop:

Chocolate Layer

  • 1/3 cup of peanut butter
  • 2 1/2 T of Cocoa Butter melted in double broiler ( pot inside another pot of water)
  • 1 t vanilla ( Homemade is BEST!!)
  • 3 T unsweetened raw cocao powder
  • 1-2 T pure maple syrup ( not that corn syrup gunk)

Peanut Butter Layer

  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 2 T cocoa butter melted in double broiler ( pot inside another pot of water)
  • 1 t vanilla extract
  • 1-2 T Maple syrup
  • fine ground sea salt (just a dash)

So now super simple. Mix all the chocolate ingredients together. Mix all the peanut butter ingredients together in seperate bowls of course. Then fill into mold or spread on a cookie sheet, however you want to enjoy you chocolate. Then pop in the freezer to store. Whenever you want one just take it out and it will not be too hard but more of the perfect consistency really. The chocolate kinda melts at body temperature.

We like to use silicone molds on different shapes and sizes to create big treats and little as well as really pretty molded chocolate.

In addition we ALWAYS make at least a double batch if not more.

Add ins: The list goes on, but we enjoy pomegranate seeds, almond slivers, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds and any puffed organic grain.
